Driver using electric car charger to charge e-Niro

πŸŽ‰ I was so impressed by my Nissan Leaf, I got a second one for my family shortly afterwards.

I got my first EV - a Nissan Leaf - back in 2017. At first, I had a lot of misconceptions about going electric, but now going back to a petrol or diesel would feel like getting a landline when you have a smartphone. The Kia is wonderful and the driving experience is significantly better - that alone is worth any extra upfront cost!

My family is now upgrading the second Kia e-Niro with a Hyundai Ioniq EV - so it’s safe to say that our trips to the petrol station are obsolete.

β›½ I used to spend Β£240 a month on petrol.

An EV is simply cheaper. I drive a lot and the cost of fuel was a big drain on my wallet. I now spend Β£1 per 100 miles (5p per kWh), so with a 280 mile range in my car, the total cost to charge at home is less than Β£3! I also use the Octopus Energy Go tariff, so that helps a lot.

When it comes to other costs, my last service was only Β£85, and the overall reliability of my Kia e-Niro has been great.

🚘 My EV helped me fall in love with driving again!

I’d argue that the driving experience is a long stronger in an EV - you feel more connected to the car - and I love driving it, and using it to teach others. As a driving instructor, this is very important, and now that I enjoy driving a lot more, so do my students.

I am also happy that I am helping to clean up the air, which you can’t do when driving a petrol or diesel.
