Behind the wheel

Hear from real people who have made the switch

  • Driver standing in front of MG ZS EV with L Plate

    The first-time driver

“I decided to go electric even before I started learning to drive. I quickly realised that I could potentially save a lot of money going electric as the charging costs are substantially lower than for a petrol or diesel. I’ve never driven a combustion engine vehicle and don’t expect to.”

  • Driver standing in front of EV charging point with his dog

    The petrolhead

“I’m hugely into cars and have been all my life. I was always a massive petrolhead and have been lucky to have driven some high-performance cars including Ferraris, Jaguars and even a Hummer. Last April we ditched the diesel and bought a Kia e-Niro – it’s been fantastic and is an excellent family car.”

  • Driver taking selfie in front of KIA e-Niro electric car

    The electric enthusiast

“My e-Niro costs me 1p per mile or less compared to 15p per mile for a diesel! Taking the e-Niro on long journeys is not an issue – I get around 260 miles range out of the e-Niro and have not needed to recharge the vehicle in public yet. I have taken my kids to North Wales in the vehicle and not even needed to recharge.”

  • Driver standing in front of her Peugeot e-208 electric car

    The rural driver

“When I drove a petrol car, I used to drive to a nearby town to refuel. I can now recharge from home for free, using my solar panels! The car is nippy, and it’s easy to put your foot down. I don’t think that charging is nearly as big of an issue as people make it out to be, and this car is especially comfortable, with great handling for rural roads”.

  • Driver using electric car charger to charge e-Niro

    The driving instructor

“I drive for a living. The driving experience of my Kia e-Niro is significantly better than my old car and that alone is worth any extra money upfront. I will never go back to driving a petrol or diesel, and my students love it.”

  • Driver standing in front of her Nissan LEAF with city in the background

    The city driver

“When I got my car, I lived in an apartment and could not charge my vehicle outside my building. With all the charging available in the city, I topped up when and where I could. My local council has made it so easy to charge your EV. Charging is free for Dundee residents, and there are other low-cost options outside of the city!”
